Laser Cutting for Beginners: A Digital Design, Woodworking, and Fabricating Class

$480.00

for ages 10-15

This spring, we’re taking our woodworking skills to a whole new level with a special class introducing kids to using and building with a laser cutter.

Local toy designer and fabricator Ben Bearsch will lead the class in learning how to design 3D sculptures using online software, and then we’ll use a laser cutter in the woodshop to bring their designs to life. As part of the design process, children will be taught how to visualize and draw each layer of their 3D sculpture, so that when the laser cut wooden pieces are stacked, they form either a standalone or wall-hung sculpture. From there, children can paint or stain their objects to add realistic or artistic details to their final artwork. Children will also have the creative freedom to design non-3D works, if they are more interested in cut-out designs or other types of building.

This class will run for 14 weeks. Drop off is between 3-3:30pm.

Fridays, March 7, 2025 to June 20, 2025 (No class on Mar 21st or Apr 25th.)
